What about EMDR?

If you or your client has questions about EMDR or starting EMDR through the Samata Health platform, please email us at team@samatahealthnotifications.com. We will look into the client's specific plan and help you accordingly!

Most often, therapists ask us about booking two consecutive sessions to provide EMDR over 90-minutes. Again, we ask that all clinicians reach out to us first as we can help give insight into the payment process and the client's status.

That being said, we are big fans of EMDR and happy to support EMDR sessions when appropriate. If it is possible with the client's plan, we will ask that the therapist please make sure to discuss the following points with their client before starting treatment:

  1. Some clients only need one EMDR session, however many prefer multiple sessions. Please discuss a care plan before starting EMDR. No clinician has a crystal ball to know exactly what will happen, but we don't want anyone to be surprised if they need more than one EMDR session.
  2. Please check the remaining session balance on the client dashboard. Before starting EMDR sessions, we ask that the clinician and client review how payment will work if they need multiple 90-minute sessions. Again, we are happy to help you administer them by booking back to back sessions on the platform. We just ask that you review this so no one is blindsided or finds themselves half way through treatment and unable to cover the cost to continue.
  3. Please discuss what happens if the client becomes overwhelmed and doesn't want to keep going in a session. This doesn't happen often, but we want to help everyone prepare! Especially when EMDR sessions and payment are unique. Here at Samata Health, we want to be fair to our clinicians and so we move forward with charging the two 45-minute sessions either way because the therapist has reserved that time for the client. Of course, we can make exceptions if you have discussed and agreed upon something different.

If you have any questions, we are always here to help!
